Mission of the Month – Greater Chehalis Food Bank

Greater Chehalis Food Bank is the March Mission of the Month

Our March Mission of the Month is the Greater Chehalis Food Bank located at 750 SW 21st Street, Chehalis. The food bank was organized in 1978 with the purpose of maintaining a walk-in place where residents in need could get food on a regular basis. Food supplied is made up of a variety of fruits, vegetables and other food staples in order to help residents have a better, healthy diet. Currently the food bank serves 400 households each month. It is open for distribution on Friday afternoons from 12:00pm-3:00pm and on the third Wednesday of the month from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Ways to help: • Financial gifts for the support of this ministry • Donations of canned goods and other foods (See wish list on Missions table in the foyer) • Plastic bags • Volunteers, aged 14+ are always welcome. The Food Bank could not serve the community without the help of friends and neighbors. Volunteer opportunities may include preparing boxes of food for distribution, assisting with distribution of food items, picking up and delivering food, unloading trucks, and assisting with registration in the office and lobby. The hours and length of time are dependent on your schedule. Please call Linda Mullins, coordinator, at 360-7481226, for more information. Thank you for helping our community in this vital ministry.
